Vail Mountain is set to enhance its skiing infrastructure with the modernization of the Little Eagle chairlift. The U.S. Forest Service has approved plans to replace the existing three-person lift with a high-speed quad, aiming to improve the beginner experience at the Eagle’s Nest area.
The upgrade is part of Vail Mountain’s 2023 Master Development Plan, which also includes expanding snowmaking capabilities and converting the Outpost building into a dining hut with an outdoor deck. Additionally, the plan involves removing outdated summer activity structures, such as the Game Creek Canopy Tour and Golden Eagle Zipline.
Forest Supervisor Brian Glaspell emphasized the need for these improvements, stating, “There is a need to modernize and expand the gondola-accessed beginner terrain at Eagle’s Nest to reduce on-mountain congestion, support growing lesson demand, and provide a more progressive learning environment.”
These developments are expected to enhance the overall experience for both novice and seasoned skiers visiting Vail Mountain.
